Mark Kowal

Mark has over 25 years of experience designing offices and is currently the Junior Vice President of the BCO (British Council for Offices).

Alongside his experience in commercial offices, Mark also has expertise in combining workplaces within complex mixed-use developments, as well as negotiating the planning complexities of working within Conservation Areas and with Listed Buildings.

Mark’s experience covers all aspects of office design, including speculative and headquarters buildings and covering both new-build and refurbishment solutions. Recently completed projects include: the speculative office building 245 Hammersmith Road, which integrates a series of new public spaces; Building 2 at the Future Works development in Slough and the Siemens Middle East Headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

Mark is also a professionally qualified project manager and a member of the Association for Project Management (APM). He has extensive experience in leading, designing and delivering major projects.

Mark will be chairing the BCO Annual Conference in 2021, prior to becoming president the same year. He is on the BCO Executive Board and is one of six judges for the annual National BCO Awards. Mark is also a judge for the Office Agents Society Awards and previous chairman of the London branch of the Interact Group.
