Camden Courtyards shortlisted for the 2018 Housing Design Awards

1st May 2018

Camden Courtyards, a fully residential scheme located on a prominent site in Camden Town for Barratt Homes, has been shortlisted for this year's Housing Design Awards, which aim to reward skill and innovation within the housing sector.

The 15,000m2 scheme, is evenly split between affordable and private and wraps around two courtyards, giving the building a characteristic ‘S’ shape. The dimensions of the site lend themselves to narrow blocks which allows for dual-aspect apartments.

The scheme provides high-quality outdoor amenity space within the development often to include safe playspaces for children, creating a tranquil environment for residents, while fostering a sense of community.

Amenity space was provided in the form of two internal courtyards which include communal landscaped areas, forming a quiet ‘oasis’ where the residents can socialise and two landscaped terraces which provide sun decks, gardens, benches and playspaces. Planted ‘living roofs’ have also been designed to provide bio-diversity to the scheme.

Winners will be announced on 2 July 2018.
