Barts Square wins Housing Design Award

Barts Square has won the Good Neighbour Award at this year's Housing Design Awards. The development for Client Helical, establishes an urban mixed-use quarter in the heart of the City of London, set around new public realm, and featuring as series of landscaped open spaces, a pedestrianised high street, two Grade A office buildings, eleven residential buildings, retail and restaurants.

The nine-year collaborative project, which was led by Sheppard Robson and designed in partnership with Gross Max, Maccreanor Lavington, and Piercy & Company, has transformed the urban landscape between Smithfield and the Museum of London with a sensitive and contemporary reinterpretation of the existing fabric. The award is testament to the major development successfully integrating within its historic setting, something that was achieved by bringing together a collective of design minds.
