University of Roehampton, Whitelands College, SW15 London, UK

The relocation of Whitelands College is the final element of Sheppard Robson’s University of Roehampton masterplan. The new 14 acre site is designed around an 18th century Grade I listed building in a historic landscape.

The facility provides teaching, research and office space, a 300-seat raked lecture theatre and residential accommodation for over 300 students, with study and informal meeting areas. The old and new buildings are creatively integrated, each with equal status in functionality and form. The re-use of the existing buildings and historic park setting, with the incorporation of new elements, enhances the regenerative credentials of the college within its community.
