The Wolfson Education Centre & CSC Imaging Centre, W12 London, UK
The project, located on Imperial College London’s Hammersmith Hospital Campus, is split into three distinct elements: CSC Imaging Facility, Wolfson Education Centre and a new campus catering facility.
In partnership with the Medical Research Council, GlaxoSmithKline and the British Heart Foundation, the CSC Imaging Facility brings together Positron Emission Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Imaging with a state-of-the-art catheterisation laboratory.
The Wolfson Education Centre project transforms an existing conference centre into an academic medical research and education centre, providing facilities for the undergraduate entry medicine course.
The new catering facility provides quality catering with a value-for-money menu for all staff, as well as conferencing and hospitality.
Our client’s initial ‘open’ brief called for reorganisation and rationalisation of the Centre to create an environment that better met immediate and projected requirements, as well as facilitating their vision for excellence in research.
An initial study provided the client with an approximate cost and programme for the works, which formed the basis for their business case.
The final design provides modern lecture theatres, conference, seminar and teaching space, and serves as a lively social hub for the campus. With its innovative design, the catering facility acts as a focal point for meetings and conferences at the campus.
