Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism (OCDEM) Oxford, UK
The Oxford Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology & Metabolism was commissioned by Oxford Radcliffe Hospitals NHS Trust and the University of Oxford with major sponsorship from the Danish pharmaceutical company, Novo Nordisk.
The building is a landmark structure on the Churchill Hospital Campus at Headington, Oxford.
The focal point to the scheme is the central atrium, which incorporates the main patient waiting area and stairway access to the seminar, library and café facilities on the top floor.
The atrium is covered by a three-layer, translucent, inflated roof system and is environmentally controlled with an energy-efficient assisted natural ventilation system.
A two-storey clinical facility flanks two sides of the triangular atrium, which is enclosed on the third side by a three-storey research building. Clinical facilities include inpatient, outpatient and support accommodation.
The research building includes laboratory, office and seminar facilities.
