Dublin Institute of Technology, East & Central Quads, Grangegorman Dublin, Ireland
Sheppard Robson was appointed as part of the Healy Kelly Turner & Townsend (HKTT) consortium as architect to their Technical Advisor team for Dublin Institute of Technology Grangegorman Campus, Central and East Quad projects.
The project consists of the relocation and accommodation of 15 teaching schools of the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) from existing facilities into two quads within the proposed campus on the former St. Brendan’s Hospital site in Grangegorman. This will form part of the wider redevelopment of the St. Brendan’s Hospital site being coordinated by the Grangegorman Development Agency (GDA).
Sheppard Robson developed an Outline Exemplar Designs for both sites to act as reference schemes to the bidding teams. This process was undertaken primarily to test the Schedules of Accommodation and secure funding for the progression of the project. During this phase Sheppard Robson tested key adjacencies and developed schemes in relation to the planning context of the site, exploring interfaces with the Site Infrastructure & Public Realm scheme as well as testing the brief against the Strategic Development Zone (SDZ)
Sheppard Robson’s role on the project included contributing to the formation of the Design Brief and Output Specification as well as production of a Preliminary Planning Report and a Site Planning and Development Options Report to conclude testing of the brief ahead of procurement.
