90 Bartholomew Close, Barts Square (Offices), EC1 London, UK
The Barts Square masterplan, developed by Sheppard Robson for Helical, establishes a new urban mixed-use quarter in the heart of the City of London.
The 3.2 acre development includes 240,000ft² of office space, 236 residential units, and 30,000ft² of retail.
90 Bartholomew Close will provide an important visual ‘book end’ to the street in views from the east and as it turns the corner into Bartholomew Close. It houses 5,670ft² (GIA) of retail at ground and basement levels, with 23,500ft² (NIA) of office accommodation above.
Built circa 1910, 90 Bartholomew Close was originally a linoleum and carpet warehouse and showroom. The façades have been retained and extended, and the original five storeys added to with a modern mansard roof pavilion in glass and expressed ribbed structure. This houses two additional floors of office space.
The interior treatment reflects its original industrial use – with exposed brickwork, concrete soffits and multi-service chilled beams.
